Even though Nina Dobrev’s character of Elena may be transforming into a vampire at the start of “The Vampire Diaries” this coming season, her other vampire character should not be forgotten. Even though it has been a while since we have seen Katherine turn up in Mystic Falls, we all know that she is going to be back eventually to wreck some sort of havoc.
Speaking within a new interview with Wetpaint on this very subject, here is what executive producer Julie Plec had to say:
“I can’t wait for the day when Katherine feels like she has to come back to town and comes face‑to‑face with vampire Elena. I can’t say. I don’t know when that will be. If it will be early or later, but it’s going to be great when it does happen.”
Even without Katherine around, we do know that Elena is definitely going to have her hands full with plenty of other problems. Not only will there be a new vampire hunter around named Connor who has his sights set on her, but Klaus is going to be inhabiting the body of her good friend Tyler Lockwood. The one hope that we may have to see Katherine is that she was supposedly hiding out until Klaus was dealt with — and if she now thinks that his character has been taken care of, she could show up unaware that he is just trapped in the body of someone else.
Do you think Katherine is an integral part of “The Vampire Diaries” that the show got a little bit too far away from this past season? We want to hear some of your thoughts below! To check out some more scoop related to Klaus and this coming season, be sure to pay a visit to the link here.
