‘American Idol’ notes: Diddy, Adam Lambert, Jessica Sanchez

Is it a little strange to start out an edition of “American Idol” notes with Diddy? Sure, but considering that we are talking about the latest updates concerning season 12, it really is appropriate.

According to the New York Post, the man otherwise known as Sean Combs, P. Diddy, or Puff Daddy (take your pick) has joined the ranks of Nick Jonas, Adam Lambert, and Brad Paisley as possible candidates to join Mariah Carey on the panel. On some levels, this makes sense — Diddy is an industry icon who will not only be able to relate to artists, but also understands things from a production angle. This would give the show the expertise that Randy Jackson or Simon Cowell brought to the table while also being young and hip.

The biggest problem here? Diddy is loaded, and he’s probably not going to take part in something like this show unless you threw a giant amount of money at him. If nothing else, there are at least some ties already there, as he has served as a mentor alongside Jimmy Iovine in the past. (He also was at one point close to former judge Jennifer Lopez.)

What’s coming up for Adam – Speaking of Adam Lambert, the season 8 star is getting ready to embark on the newest wave of his “Trespassing” publicity tour, which will take him around the world to both Japan and Australia. He has been rehearsing with the band as of late, and this should be an especially exciting journey for him to take given his noted love for Tokyo.

So how does this impact the judging search? It doesn’t in the sense that Adam will be back easily in enough time that he would be able to go and start filming audition shows — however, if he does end up being a part of the panel and they want to hold a press conference, we think they will wait on a formal announcement until he returns to the United States.

Jessica sends her love – Finally, we want to share the sentiment of Jessica Sanchez when it comes to our friends who are dealing with heavy flooding in the Philippines:

“My prayers are out there for everyone on the Philippines :(“

The good news is that those devastated by the weather in the island nation are now starting to clean up, and most of the heavy storms seem to have passed. However, let’s still continue to send some of our thoughts overseas.
