We love a good “Sesame Street” spoof as much as the next one, mostly because there’s always something rather endearing about the way in Sesame Workshop manages to parody some of the biggest things in pop culture — a device designed to get older viewers to watch alongside their children.
Of course, there are also some times when these same videos inspire some great debate — such as why Katy Perry was wearing a low-cut top in a video or why “True Blood” was ever a target for parody in general. (Can you imagine a kid asking their parent what this show is about?)
With all of this in mind, we have a new video from the show’s upcoming fall season using “The Voice” as a means to teach kids about making music with your body — but why isn’t there a Muppet for Adam Levine? It’s strange, but fans asking this question has somehow overtaken both the content and the message of the actual video.
If you are still desperate for an answer here pertaining to the Maroon 5 frontman, the simple answer is this — the show may have already had everything they were looking for with their Muppets for Carson Daly, Blake Shelton (who has a mustache for some reason), Cee Lo Green, and Christina Aguilera. You don’t want to complicate things too much for kids, and for the sake of this show having three coaches fit the set perfectly. Considering that Levine has yet to say anything about the video, we have a feeling that he is really not that offended, either. (Meanwhile, Shelton has made his Muppet his new Avatar on Twitter.)
If you love the real “Voice,” the good news is that the full gang — including Levine — will be back for all-new episodes on Monday, September 10 — now let’s just hope that nobody tries to go up and tap-dance during a blind audition.
