The proclaimed “fab five” of women’s gymnastics have now booked one of the first TV gigs following the 2012 London Olympics, and we have a feeling that they are going to be counted on to do some pretty awkward comedy.
The full team consisting of Gabrielle Douglas, Jordyn Wieber, McKayla Maroney, Kyla Ross and Alexandra Raisman has all now been booked for the August edition of “The Late Show with David Letterman,” though it has not been announced just yet what they will do. If we had to guess, we would say that a Top Ten List could be in order, mostly because it would be a little hard for Letterman to actually sit down and talk with all five ladies at once. (Plus, they could divide up the items on the list to two per young lady.)
Ever since the group won the gold as a team and Douglas won the gold in the all-around, these ladies have quickly become international superstars. Gymnastics really only gets one opportunity every four years to shine, that is unless they are able to try and carry their fame from this sport over to some other career on television. Hey, Shawn Johnson did win “Dancing with the Stars” — couldn’t one of these other ladies should they decide to give it a shot?
Do you think Letterman’s show could be an opportunity for some of these ladies to get their footing in the entertainment world — and do you think a spot on some sort of reality competition show would be a great venue for one of them? We want to hear some of your thoughts below! To find out some more news about some of the movers and shakers from the 2012 Games, be sure to pay a visit to our story here.
