As it happens to turn out, Jessica Sanchez is apparently not the only former “American Idol” star who has been in talks with “Glee” over the course of the past several months — season 10 star Pia Toscano also gave things a shot, but it does not look as though anything came out of it.
According to a new report from E! News, Pia, whose shocking early elimination became the talk of the national back in 2011, had tried out for a part this summer or the show’s upcoming fourth season. While producers apparently loved here and would like to use her for something in the future, they ended up changing the role that she had tried out for.
As for why “Glee” is looking to cast from this pool, the answer from our standpoint seems pretty obvious — they want to try and capitalize on the lead-in that is coming up in the spring. All they would have to do is have the narrator at the end of “American Idol” announce that one of the show’s former stars is going to be on “Glee,” and hopefully at least a few thousand extra viewers would tune in. They are trying a similar strategy on “The X Factor” this fall by having another Britney Spears tribute, and are also performing at least one song from fellow judge Demi Lovato.
As for the status of Sanchez as a potential cast member, that one is still up in the air. There were reports about something happening on the show earlier this summer, but remember that reports do not always equal something happening for sure — just look at some of the rumors surrounding Jennifer Lopez, Susan Boyle, and Javier Bardem for evidence of things not working out for whatever reason.
Do you think Pia would make a great addition to the show — especially as a mentor to Lea in NYADA or some other Big Apple role? We want to hear from you! To check out some other “Glee” news regarding Naya Rivera and Lea Michele, be sure and follow the link here.
