Katie Couric is literally pulling out all of the stops before the launch of her new daytime talk series on September 10 — and with that in mind, it shouldn’t come as too big of a surprise to her come across as rather inviting in a brand-new promo. How inviting? Let’s just say that she is inviting random people on the street to come to her show and check it out.
The one major issue this promo has, however, is the same one that Couric has struggled with ever since this talk show was first announced — we don’t really know what sort of show it is. We have seen a more lighthearted side of Couric on “The Today Show,” and this is the side of her that she may want people to remember the best for a show that is meant to be more lighthearted and less related to hard news. At the same time, though, the Couric that many people may remember is the one from the CBS Evening News — who still had some of the same humor, but tackled topics that were hard-hitting and more geared towards an audience of people interested in world affairs and finance, and less about celebrity culture. There is just so much competition at the moment in the world of daytime TV, and with “General Hospital” fans already being nervous — despite their show still being on the air as a part of a lineup — we don’t really know if the show is going to fare as well as everyone is hoping.
What is your take on Couric’s new promo, and do you think that the tone is being set right or what the newscaster is going to bring to the world of daytime? We want to hear from you below!
