It didn’t really take very long at all for Comedy Central to drop the hammer on comedian Jeff Ross over some of his comments made during their Roast of Roseanne over the weekend.
According to a report from TMZ, the network has already decided to not air the following joke that the famed “Roastmaster General” said at the expense of one of the other roasters in Seth Green:
“Seth, congratulations. This is actually a great night for you … you haven’t gotten this much attention since you shot all those people in Aurora. … I’m kidding. You are not like James Holmes. At least he did something in a movie theater that people remember!”
Ross has also made some jokes at the expense of Penn State, but there is no word on whether or not these jokes concerning Jerry Sandusky will be left in or not. While these sort of things are shocking, it’s close to being par for a course at a roast that is rated TV-MA, and generally anything goes. The defense of Ross and any other comedian will always be that not everyone may like their jokes, but they are not said from an awful place — of course, that doesn’t keep people from potentially being offended.
The special is already being promoted for its airing Sunday night, but the show is choosing to highlight some of the big names rather than their familiar dias of comedians — and in the spot below (which is uncensored, so be warned), Jane Lynch had a few choice words for Chick-Fil-A after their recent stance against gay and lesbian family.
Do you think that Comedy Central made the right move, and would this be different were the Aurora shootings not as fresh in everyone’s minds? We want to hear from you below! To check out the full lineup from this roast, be sure and check out our article here.
