‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 2 spoilers: More on Maya’s messages

On last week’s new episode of “Pretty Little Liars,” we saw our first glimpse inside of the password-protected website created by Maya — and we also learned that she may have known a little bit more about Rosewood than she was putting on to Emily. Does this mean that she was somehow in on it, though? Far from it.

After receiving some criticism on Twitter from some fans worried that Maya’s good name (and memories with Shay Mitchell’s character) were about to be dragged through the mud, executive producer Marlene King posted the following message:

“the maya reveal did not suggest she is a bad guy. It was meant to suggest she knew something. More 2 come.”

So what is this going to lead to? All we can say for some is that the summer finale later this month is being teased with the same “red is the new black” meme that King started to play up online this spring. What is especially interesting here is that there was an episode of season 2 with a pretty similar name in “Blood is the New Black.” Is there a connection here? Probably not, and we don’t want to read into something more than we absolutely have to at the moment.

For now, let’s just say that seeing Maya’s computer is going to bring back some memories when it comes to Emily — but hopefully not any so painful that she decides to throw Paige by the wayside and hurt her just as the two were starting to dive deep into romantic waters. (Heck, we even saw this literally last week.)

What do you think Maya may have known that could be valuable information to the Liars now? We want to hear some of your thoughts below! To check out some sneak peeks for Tuesday night’s new episode, be sure to visit the link here.
