‘Teen Mom’ star Amber Portwood reportedly depressed behind bars

Even though Amber Portwood made the decision willingly to go behind bars, is she now regretting it? Based on what the brother of the “Teen Mom” star is saying now, she is clearly having a hard time being behind bars and watching the world unfold around her. Her daughter Leah is getting older, and due to her own addictions she has rendered herself unable to see her.

Here is what Shawn Portwood specifically had to say about his sister’s emotional state during an interview with OK! Magazine:

“Amber is very depressed … She realizes now that she made a bad decision by going to jail. She misses her family and feels guilty about all of the things she did to hurt them.”

While Shawn says that Amber “made a bad decision,” what other choice did she really have? Based on some of the probation violations that she had suffered — including her own admission that she could not stay clean in the real world and needed to go cold turkey in order to become clean and sober — it doesn’t seem as though she had a bevy of other options before her. It’s unclear at the moment just when she will be released, and if she will get to even watch one episode of her MTV show’s final season live outside of prison. Amber was first locked up over the holiday season, and since that time she has either been under police supervision or behind bars.

We will have more news on Amber’s condition and journey to getting back into the real world — but when you are dealing with something as serious as prison, you better be prepared to wait a while.

Do you think that Amber can turn things around still in her life? To check out some news on one of her “Teen Mom” co-stars in Farrah Abraham, be sure and check out the link here.
