Even though we know that the season 4 premiere of “Glee” is going to be called “The New Rachel,” we really don’t know that much more about it or the Britney Spears tribute 2.0 just yet — and that includes whether or not we will be seeing many of the other graduated seniors back on the show.
One person who was a clear standout vocally during season 3 was Amber Riley, and the last we saw of her, she was going to be taking off to Los Angeles in order to pursue a career in music. While we’ll have to wait for a while to find out more about if that happens or doesn’t materialize at all, the actress did tell MTV News recently that there is a certain Spears song she would like to perform if given an opportunity — and if she even appears in this episode:
“There’s so much Britney music. I grew up listening to Britney Spears. She definitely has been a part of my high school years coming up. I would love ‘Circus’. ‘Circus’ is a good one.”
There reason for there to be another Spears tribute really seems to be twofold. The first one was one of the show’s highest-rated episodes that did not air after a juggernaut like “American Idol” or the Super Bowl, and this year it works as a way to help tie in and promote “The X Factor,” which is going to be its lead-in beginning on premiere night September 13.
Is there a Spears song that you want to hear Riley sing, or are you more concerned at the moment about whether or not we are even going to see Mercedes in the first two episodes?
