Just before the start of the month, we first reported about the full list of nominations for the 2012 Video Music Awards — and now, a certain high-profile star with a TV connection is speaking out about her honor.
In a post on her Twitter page, “X Factor” judge Demi Lovato — who has been busy as of late shooting the bootcamp phase of the auditions in Miami with Britney Spears and Simon Cowell — had the following to say about getting the big news that “Skyscraper” — considered by many to be her breakout hit following a stint in treatment — was nominated in the “Best Video with a Message” category:
“What an amazing week! Skyscraper is nominated for a VMA! love you lovatics!!”
Demi has a pretty great shot at ultimately walking home with this award. With the exception of maybe Lil Wayne, she easily has the largest fan base out of the people nominated — and her fans are young and are able to mobilize online rather quickly and vote to their hearts’ content. Unfortunately, we are not going to know for sure whether or not Demi emerges victorious until the VMAs air on Thursday, September 6 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. The move away from Sundays is a surprising one for the show, though it may be done in order to avoid competition from a number of popular cable series that have even eaten broadcast TV alive at times during this summer.
Are you happy that Demi secured this nomination, and do you think that she will end up winning? We want to hear from you below! To hear some thoughts from Khloe Kardashian about her possibly hosting “The X Factor” for this coming season, be sure to check out the story here.
