I agree with you, Emma. In retrospect, finishing the show after season 5 might have been preferable. For me, the “White Lies” arc, mid-season 5, was the last really good thing they did. – It’s a pity.

I didn’t watch for Shandy. I didn’t hate Gusty or Rusty. After watching the penultimate episode I’m so disheartened by the direction the show has taken that I won’t be watching next week. I simply do not care how this story ends. Major Crimes wasn’t about Stroh. We haven’t been waiting since The Closer for Stroh to see justice…it hasn’t been a slow burn. I certainly am not invested in this plot, and the characters I was invested in have either been killed and quickly forgotten about, or have been diluted. I mean, the squad are making jokes about someone whose wife just died. The show has become tasteless and I am so very disappointed because it could have, and should have, been better than this. I’m not invested in what is being presented. I’m just a viewer, it’s not my prerogative to decide how the show should develop. Fans often think they can do a better job that the pros and often that is simply not the case. However, we were told that season 6 was written for the fans and I’m not seeing it. Perhaps I’m being blind and stupid but I cannot comprehend how what we are consuming is anything but a slap in the face to us. As I have indicated, I am very sad about how things have turned out and I now genuinely wish that Major Crimes hadn’t been renewed for a 6th season. On balance, ending with Raydor’s promotion would have been a better and more satisfying conclusion for the fans than this.
