Did you expect to see the music video for Phillip Phillips’ “Home” to be released so soon? We surely didn’t — but nonetheless, the reigning “American Idol” champ now has it online!
In the end, this really seems to be a case of great timing. With the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team using “Home” at any and every turn during Summer Olympics and London — and with the song surging all the way up to #1 on iTunes — this was the perfect way for the folks at Interscope along with 19 Entertainmentt to capitalize on the success of this song even more than they already have.
As for the video’s content, it’s really pretty straightforward — shot in a documentary style, it chronicles Phillip as he travels around the road. Early on, it appears as though he is a struggling musician surviving inside of a tour bus — which was in many ways what his life was like before the show at least in terms of how much money he was pulling in. (Touring around the country was not as much of a priority.)
For those of you who know Phillip pretty well, you’ll notice that his girlfriend Hannah Blackwell also makes a brief cameo in the video, though it is not longer than just a few seconds. There really is not anything in here content-wise that really reinvents the wheel, but it is still entertaining and at times a little bit moving.
Tell us — do you this that this video does perfect reflect what may be the greatest coronation song in the history of this show? Be sure to share your thoughts in a comment below!
