Despite the fact that we consider it to be by and large a pretty terrible idea, it’s happening anyway — NBC is seriously plotting to do an All-Stars version of “The Celebrity Apprentice” featuring some of the best fired contestants from years past.
Speaking to TMZ, a rep for season 3 champ Bret Michaels — who saw his career spike thanks to both the show and a hemorrhage that he battled back from in order to attend the finale — said that he has been approached about making a return to reality TV in order to be a part of the cast. Bret has yet to give a “yes” or “no” answer, but if he does come back it at least guarantees that Donald Trump will have at least one celebrity who he knows brings good entertainment.
Michaels and his fiance Kristi recently split, and there are some rumors that he could be interested in getting back into bed with VH1 for another chapter of the “Rock of Love” series. Thankfully, that talk was put to bed pretty quickly, as his rep also said that he has no interest in doing a dating show for the time being.
The biggest problem with an All-Star version of this series in particular is that so many of the best contestants have used the show to get other gigs. Piers Morgan is at CNN, John Rich has an upcoming reality show, Joan Rivers is on “Fashion Police,” and Lisa Lampanelli is now back out on tour. There are some intriguing candidates out there such as Marlee Matlin, Holly Robinson Peete, and Lil Jon, but is here anything new that they can really show us this time?
