In a way, there is a pretty big dose of irony to a story that we are going to see during the upcoming fifth season of “Castle” — despite the fact that the cast of the show did not hold an official panel at Comic-Con in San Diego this year (though a good many cast members were present in some shape or form), we are going to see the likes of Rick and Kate take off to the show’s version of the popular convention in one of the sillier episodes (in a good way) coming up this fall.
Speaking to TVLine on this subject, here is what executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe had to say:
“That should be fun, given Nathan [Fillion]’s background and how much of a rock star he is at Comic-Con.”
The report also claims that we are going to have another episode that is in many ways inspired by the faux-documentary style of “The Office,” which will feature private confessionals by many of the characters while they work to simultaneously solve the case. The promise was made by Marlowe to inject some more fun into this coming season following a series of darker plots for Castle and Beckett at the end of last year — and we also know that season 5 will at least start off very serious as the show continues to try and find a way to figure out what happened to Beckett’s mother. There is also the issue of a romantic relationship that needs to be figured out in full, and a partnership at the force between Ryan and Esposito that is completely devastated at the moment.
How many “Firefly” references do you think should be in an episode themed around Fillion at a Comic-Con sort of event? We’re putting the over / under at around 4. Be sure to share your thoughts below, and you can check out some more episode scoop by visiting the link here.
