In a report near the end of last month, we said that “Hart of Dixie” is going to officially be receiving a new addition in the form of Ruby — an old high school sweetheart of Lavon’s who is going to be arriving in Bluebell at some point early on in season 2. Now, we’ve also learned that the character (who will be played Golden Brooks of “Girlfriends” fame) is going to be bringing a little family in tow.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, one of the shining stars from “Night Court” in Charlie Robinson is set to recur during season 2 as the irritable grandfather to Ruby, and should serve as a source for both some comic relief and wisdom for everyone who comes in contact with him. This casting does cement that Ruby is going to be more than just a fly-by-night character on the show, and following reconnecting with Lavon and becoming friends with Zoe, she could actually end up staying in the town for some time.
“Hart of Dixie” is currently filming its second episode of the new season, which is going to be he first series on The CW to premiere come October 2. The show is the only returning new series from last season on the network, and the hope is that in moving it away from a competitive Monday night, the ratings will fair even better in a timeslot that is also an hour earlier.
What do you think about Robinson’s casting, and are you excited for what this means for Ruby’s role during season 2? To check out some more of the latest “Hart of Dixie” filming news, be sure to pay a visit to this link.
