Comedy Central has just announced their initial list of “roasters” for their upcoming Roast of Roseanne Barr set to air on Sunday, August 12 — though surprisingly, not a single member of the dais at the moment is an alum of her former hit sitcom.
Jeffrey Ross – He’s the Roastmaster General, and in many ways this special would not be the same without him here.
Anthony Jeselnik – He first made an appearance during the Donald Trump Roast in 2010, and he was actually one of the funniest comics there.
Amy Schumer – The former “Last Comic Standing” contestant first landed on the scene last year for the Charlie Sheen roast, and actually stirred up drama when she made a joke about Ryan Dunn months after his death.
On a different note, we’re extremely disappointed that for the second straight year, there is no Lisa Lampanelli on this list.
Carrie Fisher – Who doesn’t want to see Princess Leia make fun of some people?
Seth Green – We know Seth can be funny courtesy of “Robot Chicken,” and this is a chance for us to see a different side of his act.
Katey Sagal – She’s best-known at the moment for “Sons of Anarchy,” but she has a current Comedy Central connection courtesy of “Futurama.”
Sharon Stone – Easily, this is the most surprising inclusion of all — but we do have a feeling that Sharon and Roseanne have known each other for a long time.
Jane Lynch of “Glee” fame is set to host the show.
We are devoted fans of the Comedy Central Roast, mostly because it is comedy in its purest form — raw, profane, and often the sort of stuff that would be interpreted as “mean” by people with weak stomachs. The sensitive need not apply, but this really is all in good fun.
