For one of their first promos previewing the upcoming season of “The X Factor” later this year, British station ITV has made a smart move that “American Idol” has also utilized in the past — reminding everyone of just how much amazing talent has made a name for themselves thanks to being a part of the show.
One other smart move made here? They are not just focusing on the winners. Rather than focusing on people such as Matt Cardle and Joe McElderry who have seen their careers fizzle out following winning the grand prize, the promo instead emphases such international stars as One Direction (who came in third on their season), runner-up Olly Murs, and even some former winners including Leona Lewis and reigning champ Little Mix. With the exception of Tulisa Contostavlos’ “little muffins,” all three of the other acts have managed to already break into America with some success either in touring or on the radio.
Some spoilers are already starting to come out about the new season when it comes to categories — supposedly, Tulisa is going to be working with the girls this season, while new judge Nicole Scherzinger gets the honor of helping out the boys. Louis Walsh has the challenge of producing a follow-up group to Little Mix, while Gary Barlow is going to tackle a group of overs that has not produced a winner in nearly a decade.
Of course, stay tuned as we are going to have more on this upcoming season as soon as it is available. For now, though, we’ll just pose the following question — after “The Voice” came in this year and inundated Britain more with talent shows, are you still as excited for what the UK “X Factor” has to offer?
