‘American Idol’ notes: Brad Paisley, Adam Lambert, Haley Reinhart
There is quite a bit of good information worth talking about here on our Monday edition of “American Idol” notes, but we will begin with the newest story pertaining to the season 12 judging search.
More on Brad Paisley – We know that the producers for the show were more than a little bit interested in having the country superstar join the panel for 2013, and now they have taken he next step towards making it happen.
According to The Country Vibe, Paisley is set to meet with the show’s producers in Los Angeles this week about taking on the gig. If a deal happens, then it probably cements the show’s reputation even more as a go-to place for all things country music. In locking down this audience along with that of Mariah Carey, he ratings for the show could recover in a split-second. This booking would also mean that he show would only need to book one more position to have a full panel — and while his could just mean signing Randy Jackson to a new deal, they may opt to move the Dawg into a mentoring role and bring in someone like Adam Lambert who has experience going through the long hours and rehearsals for the show.
Adam’s next single – Speaking of Adam, he made a rather big announcement on his Twitter account this weekend — the next single from “Trespassing” is coming up soon!
Adam said specifically that the announcement would come in the next week, and we’re personally hoping for “Cuckoo” or “Naked Love” based on how catchy and radio-friendly they are. Let’s just hope that no matter what the song is, it obtains a larger share of radio airplay than either “Better Than I Know Myself” or “Never Close Our Eyes” did earlier this year.
An honor for Haley – If you watched last week’s edition of “So You Think You Can Dance,” you probably enjoyed the fact that Haley Reinhart’s “Free” was used as an exit song for the eliminated contestants. While this is not good news necessarily for any contestants since this is the last music they want to hear, we are pleased to say that (according to Interscope) this will remain the exit song for the rest of the season.

oh glamberts i see many of you are on here. i still think adam is wasting his time and his precious talent on this lame as show he is better off doing what he is doing now. as for him being free to say what ever he wants think again being on that show he will be censored for good and the adam lambert we all once knew will be gone for ever.

I hope AI is not just hanging the Adam Lambert carrot out there, only to disappoint.
The over whelming tone seems to be that we would love to see Adam as a judge.
Since Season 8 it’s seemed to be the show has lost its crediability. The best singer
is hardly ever the one to win. That’s one of the resons the ratings are down. I believe alot of us would come back if Adam is selected. We were there everyweek when he was on the show.. It was the highlight of theTV week. Please bring that back. Even tho he’s not performing he would bring fun and excitment back.

Brad Paisley? Maybe since the last 5 winners were a white-guy-with-guitar Idol thinks they need to add one to the judging panel? Yawn….. If you ever saw Adam talk about music, vocal technique or the exchange of energy between a singer and their audience you would see that he is the obvious choice. Undecided – I would LOVE to see Adam on my TV twice a week but that would mean that I need to start watching Idol again. Hmmmm….

I’m not a fan of country music so whether Brad is sitting on the panel or not doesn’t interest me one bit. I like Mariah, that gal can sing! I’m sitting on the fence now but if American Idol gets Adam Lambert onboard as a judge, I’ll be watching the show for sure! C’mon, Adam is exciting & witty and I love that he speaks his mind freely. Moreover, the guy is the one who’ll be able to help the contestants the most, he was in their shoes before. I think the contestants will feel more connected with him, he’s approachable, very down-to-earth and as a judge, he will help the contestants to find their niche. So Fox, do the right thing, get Adam Lambert onboard. You won’t be sorry!

Now that Adam Lambert’s name has been dangled like a carrot before a donkey, a line-up with out him would be a let-down. Ho-hum, what else is on?

Somebody explain to me why having a judge from the country music world would turn Idol into a country music show. “The Voice” has Blake Shelton. Is that a country music show? No. Cmon people , make comments that have some semblence of credibility. Because Scotty McCreery won 1 year doesn’t make it a country music show ya’ll!

Adam Lambert would complete the picture. They already have one “big” name and possibly another. He has the edge, experience and TV personality to bring that show back to life! Last season I started falling asleep again since Adam was on and swore off the show for this year. If he’s on, I’ll tune in, otherwise I’m pretty much over it.

Adam Lambert was absolutely magnificent when he fronted for Queen last month! He would be a fantastic judge and would certainly guarentee that many of his fans would watch the show as well as many new fans.

DEFINITELY THINK IT SHOULD BE ADAM LAMBERT INSTEAD OF THE COUNTRY DUDE. TOO MANY COUNTRY WINNERS AS IT IS.

So. Mariah Carey…hmmm..I don’t know enough about her personality to say if I’m excited or not. So far leaning toward “not” but willing to give her a chance. Brad Paisley…sigh…same comment. I do get why Idol would ask him though..The Idol demographic seems to be midwest and south more than east or west coast, so makes sense from that perspective. And follows The Voice in having range of genres represented. Randy again??? Well, I personally think its time for Randy Dawg to step aside, from the perspective of giving Idol some new blood. Its time. Sooo….we get back to Adam Lambert, who would give the panel a distinctive current “edge” and as well as a seasoned perspective on the Idol process. He’s “been there, done that”, can sing ANY genre, and is well known to have offered his follow Idol-mates in 2009 unselfish and excellent advice at times during AIS8. He’s a kind, respectful man, but also direct and spot on with his mentoring advice, as seen during Idol Season 9 as a guest mentor. And boy, does he have personality plus! So…waiting with bated breath. I will DEFINITELY watch Idol next season if Adam is a judge..a very tentative “maybe” otherwise.

Well, this comment has nothing to do with not choosing Adam, I didn’t think he had a snowball chance in hell to get the 3rd judge. I have been a loyal viewer for years, even after the fiasco with Adam, but they now have lost me. reason Brad Paisley is boring as hell and I hate country music with a passion. Season when SM won hardly watched. Time for this show to be cancelled. One Diva, & one boring country singer down the tubes. SHOW OVER. NUFFIELD SAID. find me a good drama to replace it.

NO ADAM,COUNT ME OUT!!!…might as well call it Nashville Idol and i have no desire to watch a new version of Hee-Haw!!…i feel the idol ship is fast approaching a iceberg and not even M.Carey big hair or country twang will keep them afloat!
lah
July 30, 2012 @ 1:47 pm
If they add Paisley they might as well call if country Idol. I thought they were looking for a pop idol. The only thing that will make me watch AI is Adam Lambert. If I had my way the three judges would be Adam, Pink, and Meatloaf.

Big mistake going with a country judge. They have enough of thier own award shows. Adam lambert would be perfect! I’ve watched all seasons but will only continue this time if adam is there.

Matt: I don’t know what to say about this latest rumor. Producers are making another big mistake by going with BIG NAMES. It didn’t work last two seasons. Ratings are still down since S8. Brad Paisley is boring, Mariah is boring and why is Randy even still there. He contributes very little to the panel. I guess producers still want to compete w TheVoice and XFactor but idol is turning out to be just another singing reality show that makes the show about the judges and not the contestants. I won’t be tuning in if a Country singer is on this show, as it is my least favorite genre. Why don’t they just call it American Country Idol. That seems the way the show is going and it’s just down right boring. They should have four judges two males and two females to balance the panel. Also they need someone who isn’t going to push their own genre but offer constructive criticism not sure Mariah or Brad can do that. What I don’t get is Brad was quoted saying he isn’t interested in the judge spot, as he wants to concentrate on his music. Ha…guess that was a ploy to get more money. The show has become too political.

Not to happy about Brad Paisley joining AI as this would turn into Country SHOW.!!!
If Adam Lambert is not joining judging panel, I’m out for good, this show was over in 2008 the year Adam, to high rating back, bring Adam on board baby…sky rocket ratings ahead :)
