Demi Lovato’s ‘Skyscraper’ covered by former ‘American Idol’ stars

Here’s another cover…

We have heard quite a few covers of Demi Lovato’s stellar new song “Skyscraper” over the past few weeks, but this one has to rank as one of the best.

In the video below, you can check out former “American Idol” contestants Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens performing their version of the song — which will be sung live by Demi for the first time at the VH1 Do Something Awards later this month. When listening to this cover, there are a few things that come to mind immediately:

-The song suits both Andrew’s voice well, and it does demonstrate yet again his ability to take on a variety of different genres and artists.

-Does anyone else think Katie’s voice is a hundred times stronger than when it was on “Idol” back in 2010? This is not an easy song to sing, but she managed to still hit some of the high notes near the end of the song. There was also a level of maturity to her voice, and you felt that she was hitting the notes because she felt them — and not because it was what she felt she should do.

Andrew and Katie are not the only “Idol” alum to tackle this song, as Jordin Sparks recently recorded her own cover (which was met with high praise from Demi herself).

What do you think of this version?
