As if Lena Headey did not already have enough on her plate courtesy of filming the third season of “Game of Thrones,” she now also has to deal with something else entirely — divorce.
According to a new report from TMZ, Headey — who is best known for playing the role of conniving Cersei Lannister on the Emmy-nominated HBO drama series — has filed to divorce British musician Peter Loughran. The two have been married for five years, and they also have a two-year old son named Wylie Elliot. There are not many details known at the moment about the divorce, but “irreconcilable differences” — common for most celebrity splits — was listed as the reason.
This is not the first time that an actor associated with the franchise has filed for divorce — before the show’s first season aired in 2010 (but after much of production) series star Sean Bean split from his fourth wife Georgina Sutcliffe after four years of marriage. While this is undoubtedly a trying time, the one bit of solace Headey — who had to pull out of the recent Comic-Con panel for the show in San Diego due to scheduling conflicts — has is that she is going to spend the next several months surrounded by caring people who will likely act as her friends and support group as they continue work filming scenes. Despite her playing one of the most awful characters imaginable on television, the former “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” actress is hardly the same person in real life.
