As the showrunner for one of the most-popular series for young people on TV in “Pretty Little Liars,” Marlene King has clearly established a rather devoted fan following for herself. She has been responsible for helping to write and create some of the most memorable episodes over the run of the series — and now, she is also diving headfirst into the directing world.
In a new post on Twitter, here is what King had to say about the announcement:
“Did I tell you all I’m directing an episode in the back 12? Breaking the story now. So excited!”
This news is definitely worth getting excited about from the standpoint of creative vision, bu we also have to remember that we also still have a good while to wait. The “back 12” that King is referring to are the episodes that are going to presumably air beginning in early 2013, and will continue to storylines set up by the beginning of season 3 this summer. Hopefully, King will allow herself to tackle one of the show’s meatier episodes, such as the first installment back from the hiatus or one featuring an important event. We do not believe that she is directing the finale, if for no other reason than that she probably would have announced that if it was to be the case.
On Tuesday night’s new episode, the focus story-wise on this show is going to be the mysterious password-protected web site that was discovered thanks to the code that Mona used while speaking to Hanna from Radley Sanitarium. Presumably, she has taken it upon herself to actually help the same person that she once tried to destroy; however, it would also be rather reckless of us to try and guess this character’s true intentions.
Are you excited to see Marlene stepping into this directing role? We want to hear from you below! To check out some more news pertaining to Aria and Ezra, be sure to check out the story here.
