ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5 spoilers: ’30 Rock’ meets ‘Storage Wars’

We all know that “Castle” likes to draw inspiration from some other shows on TV — and on an episode set to air at some point this fall, we are going to see a tribute to one of A&E’s most-popular series in “Storage Wars.”

According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, “30 Rock” star Kevin Brown — who is best known for playing Tracy Jordan’s hilarious sidekick Dotcom — is going to be making a guest-starring appearance in this episode as “Big” Percy Jenkins — an auction hunter who runs into Castle and Beckett while he is in the middle of one of the sort of auctions that we traditionally see on this show.

Over the years, “Castle” has paid homage to such other properties as zombie movies, the late-night TV wars, and even classic film noir movies. While “Storage Wars” may not be the most obvious choice of a TV show ripe for parody, it is extremely popular with older men and women who may be part of the show’s target demographic. This also goes along with the recent comments by show executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe, who has claimed that he wants to see “Castle” as a whole take on much more of a lighthearted tone after spending much of the past several episodes delving deep into the Castle / Beckett romance along with the death of her mother — a story that we know is going to be resolved at some point pretty early on in the season.

What do you think about this idea for an episode, and do you think that “Storage Wars” is the perfect show to make fun of to a certain extent? We want to hear from you below! To view more “Castle” news — including the title of the season 5 premiere — be sure to follow this link here.
