Now, we finally have the full list of advisers for season 3 of “The Voice.” We already knew that Adam Levine had Mary J. Blige, Blake Shelton had Michael Buble, and Cee Lo Green had Rob Thomas — and now, we know that Christina Aguilera is getting paired up with one of the biggest rock stars of all time.
In a post on her Twitter page, Aguilera confirmed that the newest member of her team this year is going to be none other that Green Day rocker Billie Joe Armstrong:
“Welcome Billie Joe (@BJAofficial) to #TeamXtina! We are ready to rock out in Season 3.”
It’s not exactly clear whether or no Armstrong knew Aguilera before this show, but there are some interesting connections between the rocker and this show. For example, Tony Vincent on the show last season — who served as a member of Team Cee Lo Green — served as the lead on his Broadway adaptation of “American Idiot.” This is also an exercise in some smart timing for Armstrong — like Thomas and his band Matchbox 20, Green Day is getting set to launch some new music later this year, and this serves as an additional platform to get the word out.
The only other thing here is that Armstrong is likely going to be looking at something more than just the vocals — he has made a living as an entertainer, and part of what has made him so successful over the years is his ability to deliver with stage presence in addition to great lyrics and some solid vocals. Basically, seeing him is like the opposite of a “Voice” blind audition.
Do you think that this is an especially interesting choice for a coach who has such a different sort of style than what she brings to the table? We want to hear from you! To check out some more of the latest new related to “The Voice,” be sure to check out the story here.
