“Glee” is very much a show about persevering past negativity and embracing the underdog, and Lea Michele as an actress in many ways fits that mold perfectly. She was never someone who fit the archetype for what an A-list actress should be, but yet she has managed to become one of the most popular young stars of both the stage and screen.
Speaking in a new issue of Harpers Bazaar (which also includes a photo shoot), the 25-year old Michele talks a little bit about being comfortable with her image — even in spite of what some people in the past have said about her:
“I’m five foot three. I don’t look like a lot of other people, you know what I mean? I look like I’m 12.”
Ironically, Michele has also been called out by a good many people in the industry for a feature that became a focus of the “Born This Way” episode — her nose:
“How many managers told me, ‘Get a nose job. You’re not pretty enough’? But I proved them wrong … ‘Glee’ is only the beginning. I plan on playing every role on Broadway…I want to do movies, make music.”
Considering that the future for Lea (and some of her other co-stars) is currently unclear beyond season three, she may have time to do everything she wants. At one point, Lea was considered to be in a show spin-off centered on her character Rachel Berry in New York City — however, that has been put on the back burner for a little while by co-creator Ryan Murphy after some publications blew the idea that these cast members were getting “fired” out of proportion.
What do you want to see Lea do after her time on “Glee” comes to an end?
