‘White Collar’: Matt Bomer not signed on for ’50 Shades of Grey’

We don’t know what it is about all of these television actors being linked to play Christian Grey in an upcoming “50 Shades of Grey” moving  — but following in the footsteps of one Ian Somerhalder from “The Vampire Diaries,” we now have some new rumors revolving around “White Collar” star Matt Bomer.

While speculation surrounding Bomer — who most recently improved his big-screen cred courtesy of a role in “Magic Mike” — has been there in regards to this movie for weeks, a “cover” of Entertainment Weekly floating around the internet made it appear as though the actor was officially signing on for the coveted and in many ways controversial role.

However, there’s one problem with this story — it’s not even remotely true. Sources close to the film say that no one has even been cast in the movie yet, and they have to lock in both a director and a writer before they even get to that stage. The EW cover is merely a fake designed to trick people.

Is it possible that Bomer will be considered for the part? Sure, but like Somerhalder, he has the challenge of having a pretty busy schedule thanks to his work on the USA series. He ultimately has to make sure that all of his other commitments work around when he is filming for the Jeff Eastin drama in New York City. In all likelihood, we like to believe that producers would be more interested in booking someone who does not have nearly as many rigorous commitments.

What do you think about all of these rumors, and do you wish that the “50 Shades of Grey” speculation would just veer away from television for a while? If you want to check out some more scoop related to Bomer, be sure to follow the link here.
