Outside of a recent cameo filmed by Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol, “Game of Thrones” is not exactly the kind of show where you traditionally see a great deal of stunt casting. However, there are some other acclaimed actors who are expressing their interest in filming a guest-starring gig if the opportunity was ever offered to them.
Speaking in a new interview with Collider, “Sons of Anarchy” star Charlie Hunnam — who is in our mind one of the most consistently-overlooked actors when it comes to Primetime Emmy Awards nominations — expressed that given the right conditions, he would love to stop by Westeros for a visit:
“If there was a role that I could do alongside Sons then I would love to go work on that show … [But] if it required jumping off of Sons, I absolutely wouldn’t. I’m a loyal guy and I love Sons so I’m not leaving that for anything.”
Given Hunnam’s look, he seems immediately to be the perfect actor to play maybe a cousin of the Lannisters, or maybe some other sort of mercenary living inside of King’s Landing. If he wanted to play against type, maybe he could tackle some sort of aristocratic role — but that would be more for the sake of comedy, since what we would really prefer to see him do is mow down people in a Blackwater-style battle.
Both “Sons of Anarchy” and “Game of Thrones” are both currently in production. In the case of the former, it returns to FX for season 5 on September 11; meanwhile, the HBO epic will not be back until March 30, 2013.
