In reply to distachio. I agree with you. Bookies can be quite rabid and spoiled brats about this. I never read the books, nor I intend to, at least for now. I'm loving this season and I find it better than the slow pace from season 2.

In reply to Marlana Camacho. Oh my, I so agree with you! I don't mind some changes, but they are doing too many and making Jamie look a fool, when he NEVER was in the books. And they are making Claire look weak (the scenes between her and Brianna when Claire told her about Jamie). I think the writers are getting too big for their britches and think that they are good enough to stray more from the books. One change I did not like was Jamie giving Willie the snake instead of the rosary. The writers said Jamie would not have this. I don't care! It happened in the books and it is FICTION! No one has time traveled either.

As many posters here have stated, the first 2 seasons were so much better. Straying from the character’s portrayals in the book has been a bad idea. These books are rabidly loved by many readers, including myself,–who are the core of their TV viewers. So changing the personalities, demeanors, and likely reactions of the main characters is not sitting well. It’s as if the writers just don’t have a feel for these people, and for some reason, want to invent situations and reactions instead of drawing more on what went on in the books. Diana Gabaldon did it best, and they can’t improve upon what she has done. As a consultant, I’m surprised she hasn’t had more influence on the writing and the portrayals. In addition to all this, the last 2 episodes were downright boring. There wasn’t a boring page in her many books, so this has been such a disappointment.

In reply to saariel. See this is the attitude that bugs the crap out of me. I know you love the books, but to belittle the show for not doing things exactly like in the book is not right. I loved The Hunger Games Series. The movies did not exactly follow those books but I could enjoy them just the same. I let myself enjoy them. I know not everyone is going to like this show, but to not like it just because they don’t strictly follow the book is not fair.

Wasn’t Lord John Grey on the Porpoise, heading to Jamicia to be the new Govenor?
I am finding the story line is straying quite a bit from the books and while I understand that its an adapatation, the story is the story. Its a little discouraging to see the changes each week.
I watch on Starz through Amazon Prime sometime during the week, so my watching probably doesn’t count.

spot on!! the writers changed the book characters – the reasons for the devoted fans for >20years…
the last two episodes werent that interesting as a stand alone show either.
