“How I Met Your Mother” is looking to only have one or two seasons left — so with that in mind, some of the producers behind the hit show are doing just about everything they can to prepare or what’s next. In the case of one show, we have a new comedy that is coming on Fox this midseason — meanwhile, the other show is one of the first pilots ordered by CBS for the 2013-14 TV season.
“The Goodwin Games” – Let’s start with the show that is coming on TV sooner. We already know that executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas already have cast Becki Newton — otherwise known at the moment or playing Barney Stinson’s fiancee Quinn — as one of the lead characters, and they have now picked up another addition from the sitcom world.
Bays and Thomas have added “‘Til Death” alum Kat Foster to the series, and she will be taking on the series regular role of Lucinda as a replacement to Felicia Terrell, who was let go after the show was picked up. For those unaware, this series also stars Scott Foley (“True Blood”) and revolves around three siblings who are trying to get along following the passing of their father in order to earn his inheritance.
“Ex-Men” – Another “How I Met Your Mother” executive producer in Rob Greenberg has come up with this new pilot, which focuses on a man trying to rebuild his live in a housing complex after being left at the altar. There are still few details available about this show, but the leading role has been cast in “Paranormal Activity 3” star Chris Smith. When you consider that most comedies are fronted by big-name stars, the inclusion of a relative unknown in many ways comes across as a big surprise.
