What is it with former Nickelodeon stars from our youth suddenly stirring up so much drama on the internet? While Drake Bell has not faced negative headlines in the say way as Amanda Bynes (mostly because he’s not being arrested for anything here), the former star of “Drake & Josh” has somehow decided to take it upon himself as of late to start up a nasty and rather one-sided Twitter war with current teen heartthrob Justin Bieber.
It’s really hard to say how all this started, but it seemingly was when Bell said following a Twitter hack that while he would never hate on Katy Perry (who he was accused of saying some mean things about), the 18-year old Bieber was a different story.
As is typically the case whenever someone makes a negative statement about Bieber, his fans of course came out and inundated Bell with a series of hateful messages saying a long list of things that we can’t really say here. This in turn has led Bell to posting even more comments back, and this back-and-forth has almost become a mutual game of posturing and attention-seeking featuring a guy who was probably the target of every middle-school girl in 2004.
Here’s the latest comment that was the most biting:
“I haven’t listened to much Justin Bieber but his songs must be full of hate and rage because that’s what his believers are filled with..”
So why are we getting involved in this Twitter feud now of all times? It’s only because Bieber posted this message earlier Tuesday morning, and we find it to be classy, a little bit ironic, and also hilarious:
“Drake and Josh was my favorite show as a kid. really.”
There are so many ways you could look at this story. Are Bieber’s fans wrong for cursing Drake out online and making all sorts of obscene comments? Sure, but we also don’t know why a former Nickelodeon star has suddenly decided to take it upon himself to fight a battle that he has no way of winning. It really just seems like the best solution to all this is Bell going about his business and forgetting about this whole fight, and Bieber’s fans spending more of their time listening to his music and less sending out messages he would never condone.
