We already have heard that Michael Buble and Mary J. Blige are going to be a part of “The Voice” season 3 as advisers for Team Blake Shelton and Adam Levine, respectively — and now, we also know just who will be helping out Cee Lo Green with his team for the battle rounds.
According to Us Weekly, an adult contemporary legend — which is good, considering that most singers on reality competitions fall within that genre — in Rob Thomas is going to be helping out Cee Lo’s team for a few episodes this fall. It’s still not exactly clear if Cee Lo and the Matchbox 20 frontman have much of a relationship, but this appearance coincides well with the band’s return to the mainstream. They recently launched a new single in “She’s So Mean,” and are readying a new album of original music for the first time in years.
While at NBC’s event at the Television Critics Association panel on Tuesday, NBC head Robert Greenblatt acknowledged that there are issues at times when airing a reality show too much throughout the year, but his argument for doing this with “The Voice” was that we already see such shows as “Dancing with the Stars” and “Survivor” pulling it off. He also claims that the show is going to be refreshing the formula enough to make this season stronger beyond just the blind auditions that get so many excited about the show, only for them to stop tuning out later on in the season.
