‘Glee’ season 4: Chord Overstreet officially now series regular

After weeks and weeks of waiting, Chord Overstreet has finally made his promotion on “Glee” official.

As a part of the massive festivities in order to celebrate Fox’s annual summer TCA panel on Monday, the announcement was made that the man behind Sam Evans is now going to be a series regular moving forward on this show. Does this mean that he is going to be appearing in every episode? Far from it. Lea Michele is the only actor on the show with a commitment to appear in all 22 episodes for the show’s fourth season, but it does ensure some other important things. First, it means that Chord will be featured in the opening credits alongside the likes of Kevin McHale, Cory Monteith, and Naya Rivera; in addition, it also means that no other show is going to be able and pluck Chord away without Fox’s permission.

This promotion was also in particular a long time coming for Chord. Last summer, he ended up leaving the show temporarily after he was not offered a deal as a regular to focus on his music career; then, he ended up coming back at midseason in a recurring capacity. The actor joins a good many other stars to receive promotions for the show, and some of the people who will continue to recur this year include Samuel Larsen (Joe), Dot-Marie Jones (Coach Beiste), and Vanessa Lengies (Sugar). Many series regulars from last year still have their titles, but are going to see a smaller commitment as the show narrows its focus more to what is happening with Rachel in New York, and what is going on at McKinley High.
