‘Game of Thrones’ season 3 spoilers: What singer has a cameo?
If there is one thing that “Game of Thrones” has held constant to in its first two seasons, it is making sure that the cast members are not people who are going to take you out of the world of the show. Therefore, we were admittedly a bit surprised to learn that a frontman for a famous rock band recently got an opportunity to film a spot for the show’s third season — even if it was just a minor part.
In a post on the band’s official Facebook page, Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody talked about the opportunity that he had on the show’s set this week to dress up like a commoner in Westeros:
“So I did my scene this morning for Game Of Thrones. I looked like this. Can’t say much just it’s no pivotal role. Fun!”
In all seriousness, Lightbody’s appearance is probably just going to be a cameo appearance, and he may or may not actually have any lines. While some purists may not be too thrilled with a famous face coming into the world, it’s best to think of this as just a fun Easter Egg for diehard Snow Patrol fans. After all, we would lap up the same opportunity that Lightbody did if it was handed to us — who wouldn’t want to be a part of this production?
“Game of Thrones” has literally just started up production on season 3, and it will return to HBO on Sunday, Marych 30 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. We’ll have more continuous updates throughout the filming period, including more casting news and production diaries straight from the producers and the network.
Do you think it is cool that someone like Lightbody got to take part in the show, or do you think it is more of a distraction? You can meet some of the more prominent new characters for the season over at this link.

I believe the season three premier is Sunday March 31. Not the Saturday the 30th. Sorry had to correct you.

I think adding ‘famous’ faces just for the sake of putting them in the show is a dark road to travel. Why risk screwing up something that is so absolutely amazing.
