‘American Idol’ notes: Phillip Phillips, David Archuleta, Haley Reinhart
In the midst of what has been a pretty eventful day in regards to “American Idol” — especially when it comes to Mariah Carey joining the show as the newest judge — there actually has been some news coming out when it comes to some past contestants.
With that in mind, let’s start off with a reaction from a recent contestant about the judging rumors that have been floating around out there.
Haley speaks out – Haley Reinhart was just one of many singers in attendance for the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday — and even though the Mariah booking was not announced yet, she still spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about how Carey and Adam Lambert would be great choices for the show:
“It’s sad to see them go, but if they’re gonna pick a new bath of judges, I think that it’s a really great opportunity to find some people that really can give some great, great advice … I know there’s names thrown out there, like I just heard Gwen Stefani and Mariah Carey and even Adam Lambert, a past Idol. I think all these ideas are wonderful.”
We know that Lambert is still a candidate to appear as a replacement for Steven Tyler, but we can pretty much rule out Stefani thanks to her recent comeback with No Doubt.
Phillip Phillips celebrates Gold release – We posted in the past about Phillip Phillips’ coronation song “Home” passing the 500,000 sales mark, and he’s now getting the opportunity to actually celebrate the honor while on the show’s live tour.
The photo to the left was posted on the @Idol_Insider Twitter account, and we don’t know what is cooler about it — Phillip looking like he just opened a Christmas gift, or Heejun Han accidentally finding a way to photo-bomb the picture. Either way, massive congratulations are in order!
David Archuleta talks “BEGIN” – Just because we love all things David Archuleta, we have a new video featuring him talking about everything from his music to his decision to leave for two years on a Mormon mission. As bummed as we are to see him gone, isn’t it nice that he planned out releasing so much content in advance of his departure?
“BEGIN” comes out on August 7 — and if you want to check out previews for some of the tracks, be sure to visit the story over at this link.

I have always admired David’s sincerity, passion, and beautiful voice. I was devastated when he didn’t win AI, but he never crybabied about it and really never seemed to care. Going on his Mission proves all his detractors wrong when they said his demeanor on AI was just for show. Pleeeeeze, no more English anything on shows. I stopped watching Talent because of Piera, and I was soooo glad to when Simon left AI…his constant condescension really got old. As for Miss Elton John….NO! That big sissy makes me feel uneasy.

I’m sure missing David too and waiting for his return. He worked so hard to leave us beautiful stuff before he started his mission. 25-episode miniseries Nandito Ako, the Forevermore album and videos (gorgeous love songs), and the inspirational album BEGIN. Forevermore has been in my car CD player since it arrived and I have BEGIN. preordered for my 4 family members and myself. You can preorder BEGIN. at Deseret Book, WOWHD (ships free to lots of countries), Sears Entertainment, Amazon, Target, Best Buy and in the Philippines at Odyssey. It will also be on iTunes. And BTW he is DavidArchie on Twitter – he can’t tweet from his mission so his manager Kari is posting for him for now.

Michelle, I like that you mentioned that Idol needs an Englishman. Of course, that’s what’s been missing since Simon left. All these shows that judge talent seem to have one: X Factor, So You Think you Can Dance, Dancing With the Stars, America’s Got Talent (had Piers Morgan), and perhaps others that I don’t happen to watch. Yep, that’s what they need!

Congrats to Phil. Phil.:)
But here to say that David is so missed. He definitely filled a space in the music industry for those that just want to hear a beautiful voice sing artistic renditions of everything he touches. Be it Pop, Hymns, R&B, Christmas Songs, Latin music, Covers, he just does it all and so beautifully. Doesn’t need lots of studio or electronic support..he just sings it. Miss that. Can’t help but love the DAVID A. lol. Talent wins out everyI do love hi brand of talent:)

Congratz Phillips! Heard lots if idols representing at Teen awards. Day I’d Archuleta never disappoints! That guy has one of the most beautiful voices of his generation. I listened to the snippets. Love Broken. Adam as a judge is not a good choice. They need star power and I don’t think he has enough. How about EltonJohn?! Need an Englishman with some sass!

I’m also extremely happy with David’s new albums. This new music in Forevermore album and what I’ve heard of BEGIN. is so much more like what I’d hoped David would be doing after Idol. He is so great with music where he shows his emotion and feeling. No one does that better.
Sorry, I can’t see Adam Lambert as an Idol judge, Pleeeeeezzzz. Mariah would be good, however. But the show could use a comedian as a judge (either that or get Simon back). They need someone that will keep the audience interested.

David is probably one of the most thoughtful and caring people that I know. He has done so much for his fans so that we have his music while he is gone. Ist was the CD Forevermore, beautiful OPM love songs and now on Aug 7th we will finally get to hear BEGIN. This will be AWESOME!!!! He does these covers so well and his new song BROKEN sounds amazing in the little snippet we have heard. Thank you David,we miss you,we love you, we are so very proud of you and we will be here in 2014.<3

Yes, David is thoughtful that way. He is always thinking of his fans, and didn’t want to leave us empty handed. And he did just that. He has left us so much to see and listen to while he is gone, that we forget sometimes that he’s gone. Be sure and look out for his 5th album BEGIN. releasing Aug7. Beautiful covers and 1 original . I can hardly wait. Love you David and we are so proud of you.
