If Jessica Sanchez is in fact going to be playing a role on “Glee” at some point during season 4 — which has been the rumor for about a month now — she is doing a very good job at keeping quiet about it.
In a new interview via an outlet in the Philippines (where she is already enormously popular), Sanchez gave a pretty coy response when asked both about this part along with a role in a “Miss Saigon” feature film adaptation:
“There are definitely things happening on the side for me. But I can’t confirm anything at all.”
All of these roles being sent Sanchez’s way are particularly surprising once you remember that she went into the top 24 of “American Idol” this past season as someone without a ton of experience doing anything other than singing — not only does she have a great, voice, though, but she is someone young people can look up to and has a fun spirit about. “Glee” in particular is in need of a new power vocalist for New Directions now that Rachel and Mercedes have graduated, and she also brings a much-needed element of diversity.
If Sanchez does end up appearing on “Glee,” it’s probably not going to be until the second half of season 4. She is currently on tour with the rest of the top 10 from season 11, and she is simultaneously working on her debut album. Once this is wrapped, she will still have to embark on a promotional tour for the disc before some other opportunities open up for her yet again.
