Following the end of “The Bachelorette” season finale on Sunday night, Emily Maynard sat down with Chris Harrison for the first-ever edition of “After the Final Rose.” It was heavily-touted for being one of the most dramatic ever, so was it worth the wait? Frankly, it may actually have felt like the most honest edition of the show they have ever put on.
Before Emily and her new fiance Jef Holm came out on stage for the first time as a public couple, we had a really interesting conversation between her and Arie Luyendyk Jr. — a man who understandably felt as though he never had the closure that he wanted when he came to their relationship. How crazy is it that he flew out to Charlotte, didn’t even see her, and yet left a journal he wrote about her on her door? On one side of the coin, it’s pretty romantic — on the other hand, it was kind of a jerky move to make when it comes to Jef to still be expressing his feelings for what was at that point his woman. Jef and Arie eventually did have a “talk,” and now everything is okay.
When Jef finally came out on stage, everything went just about as you would expect it to on a show like this. He said that he and Emily have somehow found a way to spend time together despite being under the close watch of producers, and he is starting to get accustomed to his new role as a dad. It’s almost impossible to predict how these sort of relationships are going to go with this show, but we think that these two have as good of a shot as anyone has to make it last. They seem to be happy, and Jef is planning to move to Charlotte so that they don’t have to move Ricki to a new city and a new school. They are also looking forward to a wedding, presumably in the spring if things go their way.
