We have a new addition to the fifth season of “Castle,” and, when you consider the history of shady characters that this guy has on his resume, it really seems like a perfect fit.
According to a new report from TVLine, Jack Coleman — whose recent credits include “Heroes,” “The Office,” and a rather deadly stint on “The Vampire Diaries” as Caroline’s father — is going to be coming on board the show as a United States Senator who is going to be some sort of antagonist to Stana Katic’s character of Kate Beckett for at least the early portion of this season. While this has not been confirmed by any means, suspicions are that he will be somehow tied to the case involving her mother’s death.
Unfortunately, for the time being there really aren’t too many other details about the character that are available about the character just yet. The belief is, though, that he will not be the only new addition to the season — as a matter of fact, rumor has it that producers are also looking to cast a Vice-President who is somehow also involved in this story. Executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe has already promised that the story of Beckett’s mom is one that will be wrapped up at some point this season, that way the show can venture a little bit out of the darker territory in order to focus a little bit more on comedy.
What do you think about the casting of Coleman, and do you think that he is going to make a formidable rival to Beckett? If you want to check out some more scoop from “Castle” — in particular when it comes to Beckett’s relationship with Rick moving forward — be sure to head on over to this link.
