We already know that Castle and Beckett are finally going to give a relationship a try on the upcoming fifth season of “Castle,” but there is still an important question to ask — are they actually going to go public with the fact that they are an item? The answer may surprise you.
Despite the fact that a good many people in he precinct are already pretty well aware of the fact that the two parties are interested in each other, Stana Katic tells Enterainment Weekly that the plan for the time being is for her and Nathan Fillion’s characters to try and keep things tightly under wraps:
“I think the journey [this season] is about this connection and what does it mean now and how do they work together … I watched this film called Leri, Oggi, Domani — it’s with Sofia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni. It’s three different stories that Carlo Ponti build about love and sex, and it painted a really fun picture about relationships and how we humans navigate our way through it. It was a tremendous joy to watch. I think this year is going to be a lot about that — the humor of two people hooking up and trying to keep it from everybody and also trying to figure it out.”
So why would these two opt to keep this a secret? There are a myriad of reasons that we can think of from the get-go:
1. They are afraid that their co-workers could treat them differently if they knew — despite many of them knowing that there are some obvious sparks there.
2. They could be worried about it not working out, and they don’t want to let the cat out of the bag early on.
3. Subconsciously, it may add to the intrigue of the relationship if it is kept secret for a little while longer.
Why do you think Castle and Beckett could be doing this, and do you think it is a particularly smart idea? If you want to check out some more news on another important “Castle” relationship — that of Ryan and Esposito — be sure to head over to this link.
