I don’t think the writers want to write Jamko as a couple because they like them as work partners too much. Plus, Vanessa gets more screen-time as Jamie’s partner than she would as his girlfriend. I want to see Eddie at Reagan family dinnner someday, but that would probably be one of her only scenes during most episodes, much like how it was for Linda and it’s most likely why Amy decided to leave the show. I think the writers will keep teasing the viewers with the possibility of Jamko’s relationship turning romantic until the very end of the series; and then, hopefully, in the final episode they’ll give the audience what they want by finally paying off that storyline by having Jamko end up together. I’m guessing this will only happen after Jamie and/or Eddie decide to give up being a beat cop for a promotion and therefore breaking up their work partnership. I think the writers probably see that ending as a win-win situation because it allows them to please the viewers who want Jamko to remain partners and the ones who want them to be together romantically. It does make sense; however, I think by executing the story that way the writers end up frustrating a lot of viewers in the meantime.
