This show was frustrating...

Frustrating that the "Leah Harris" story was not filled it with sufficient detail to know why the brother killed her, why he brought in a substitute 13 years later, why the missing persons detective missed something that would have been in her data base for at least 12 years.

Frustrating to see Frank continue to have battles with whoever is in the Mayor's office and to see a Mayor who is dressed inappropriately for the position. I had read pre-season that the character is supposed to be a high society woman who had been in the Public Advocate's position, but this has not been spelled out in the show. So we're just left wondering about a woman who wears off the shoulder, seemingly non-professional clothes on numerous occasions.

Frustrating to see that, once again, the Eddie/Jamie situation is being ignored. I was one of those who wanted to see those 2 become a couple during season 5... nothing happened in season 5 or season 6. Then, there was a tease in season 7, episode 8 that they "have feelings" for each other. However, nothing came of it and Eddie even disappeared the last month of the show (I know Vanessa Ray had another show she was doing then). Episode 2 would have been a good time to begin movement toward a decision. After having been a Jamko fan since the beginning, I've finally reached the point where I would rather the writers just "pull the plug". Give each of them a bonafide love interest off-screen and have it work out (unlike Eddie's "breakfast sandwich guy" last season). Just do something definite and have them move on as professional partners only.

Frustrating to see the family dinner.... I think the arrangement at the family dinner should have simply moved Danny up by his dad such that he and his boys were still together as a family unit on one side, leaving the other side alone. It does bother me that Nicky, who has been a whiny, irresponsible character in so many situations, is now seated between her grandfather and the son who has just suffered an incalculable loss. It was also frustrating to see them miss a great opportunity to inject family humor... after Danny said, "Throw it in the oven and pray", if it was our family, we would have begun a prayer to ask God to make the food edible, then we would have prayed for family. :-)

The episode did have some realistic scenes in addressing Linda's death. Two years ago, our family suffered the loss of a trauma surgeon nephew in a mountain climbing accident. There have been extended family conversations and situations since then which are reminiscent of the "mushrooms on the pizza" and burnt chicken scenes in this episode.

All we fans can do is just wait and see what the writers do next. If they can't come up with something more satisfactory than these first 2 episodes, I won't be a fan much longer.

I feel the same. I hope they get some better scenes in future episodes that actually showcase their chemistry a bit more and progresses their relationship.

I'm kinda sad about the lack of Jamko for having so many scenes with them in it. There was just a touch and some banter, not really anything to suggest their relationship moving forward.
