In reply to Dixie88. Since episode one of season eight of BlueBloods the ratings have dropped down. I don't know if it had anything to do with them killing off Linda but I tripled checked and episode one of the season had 1.15 million viewers and episode 2 had 1.00 million viewers and episode three and a half 0.90 million viewers so compared to the previous season viewership is down for it to be this early in the season.

In reply to Jennifer. I agree with you but I also have read every single article about Amy Carlson leaving and I found that she actually promoted season eight just a few months ago and yet she had no interest of returning to the show.Whats wrong with that picture

We didn't miss anything.They never actually should the crash nor her furneral or anything like that.All that was said in the first episode of season eight was she died airlifting a patient which believe it or not isn't an accurate statement considering that in New York Medical life flight helicopters are flown out of the fire department and they don't land on the hospital they either land at Teterbrough airport in New Jersey or JFK airport in New York depending on which hospital the patient is going to and then they are taking by ambulance.Either way an RN nurse works in the ER wouldn't have been on the helicopter in the first place.Not much research went into the killing off of Linda Reagan

I am shocked that they killed Linda off between seasons and in a helicopter crash airlifting a patient which is something that the show never mentioned her doing before
I felt like her death was rushed do to the fact that only Danny was grieving and the boys showed no emotions about losing their mom,they just seemed happy about a real backyard. I am disappointed in how they handle the whole thing

I was really shocked to find out that Linda was taken out. No forewarning. What’s that all about. It’s like she didn’t even matter. Think the whole thing stinks.

I really was shocked and thought I missed something at the end of season 7. I don’t know what the politics of this change was but it is clear that Amy Carlson had no intention of leaving the show as of the end of last season. Apparently she was sent on her way.
Bad choice as she was so brillant on the show for so long. We will see how this plays out with the storyline moving forward.
Bad job producers!!!!

So shocked to find Linda was dead. Did we miss a show when she was killed in a helicopter! We never miss an episode and even watch reruns. The show is the favorite of me and my husband. We weren’t prepared for the sadness of this premier. We love all the characters and will miss Linda,s presence.

I am SO sad and REALLY mad that the show killed off Linda. She was my favorite and she brought the supportive yet struggling presence of a cop’s wife that brought the BALANCE and GROUNDING in this show, not to mention the matriarch role. SHE was the one who brought them all together and kept them focused on family. they should have developed her character much more. HUGE mistake in letting her go. STUPID MOVE!!!

With how little Amy Carlson and the show are talking, it really looks like it was some type of contract issue that led to her being killed off. Just seemed so abrupt and forced, which really threw off the rest of the episode. With all the changes on Hawaii Five-0 and now Blue Bloods, it’ll be interesting to see what happens with their ratings.

Edit: According to Deadline, she was the one who decided to move on after her contract ended after last season.
