Sorry I should have said ‘American’. It’s obvious they’re not American speakers. My ears did perk up when I first heard the main characters speak but I didn’t have a problem understanding what they were saying, regardless.

I gave it five episodes and the 5th one was by far the worst.

It definitely was progressive though.

Fair enough and thanks for the interview. My response would be if that is how the character was written/directed they have made a mistake. He had a young son (and new wife) to live for so him being happy or at least faking happy was imperative. If he couldn’t do that then the character is selfish and makes me dislike him even further.

His brooding would be fine if it was just him suffering alone.

In an answer in a Russian interview Patrick Heusinger said this,

How would you describe Nick’s character?

Nick is an FBI agent, and he is a deeply traumatized person. Six years ago, he lost his wife, and over the years he had to learn how to deal with it somehow, had to put himself together in pieces. But only the shell remained of it. He is an introvert and expresses his feelings a little differently than many other characters that we see on the screen. For example, he is rather reserved. He does not know how to express passion, like most people. He hides the pain deep inside.

Some people prefer their serialised shows to be thought provoking and don’t give up the baddy in the first five minutes like a lot of COTW shows

In fact Alice, Emily’s Dad and Brother, the serial killer, Violet and Agent’s Crown and Ericsson are all British, Tommy is Israeli and her shrink is Mexican.
I’ve always assumed that this story will be completed by the end of Episode 10 so a season 2 would need something quite different, not sure about that, Fortitude was very compelling for its first season, but its second season was very disappointing.

I actually enjoyed the first episode and thought “Ok, this may go somewhere”. Unfortunately it was the only episode I found even remotely plausible and well directed.

Episodes 2 through 5 got progressively worse. I won’t finish it. Too much to wade through at this point. The bleeding eye tree, the “bad” brother, the new wife being pregnant, all the bodies in the woods, etc. They just put too much out there for me to want to digest.

I agree with 2 things.

(1) It’s obvious they are not native English speakers. (I was willing to suspend disbelief).

(2) I too, don’t know how it’s possible they can go beyond 1 season based on conclusion of episode 5. Confusing there.

I don’t think it’s as bad as you say. I’ve seen worse.

And yes, she’s attractive but that doesn’t mean she cannot evade police. There are many examples of beautiful women being cunning, intelligent and successful and capable.

Of course I can pick apart the show as I can do with many shows – even successful ones. I don’t know why you would watch all episodes if you thought it was so horrible? ? usually I would not be able to get through first episode of a show that was as bad as you described it to be.

But, of course I respect your opinion. ?

The show is set in Boston, yet every actor sounds like a foreigner faking a U.S. accent, especially the Boston PD detective. I can’t understand half of his dialogue. The lead actor, FBI agent, looks constipated and says all of his dialogue through what appears to be clenched teeth. He reminds me of Mark Ruffalo as David Banner in the Avengers movies.

Katic is fine but again her looks work against her no matter how much they try to “dirty her up”. There is no way someone that looks like her could “hide” from anyone, which is the basic premise of the show.

Not sure where a show like this fits with its dark themes, language and sexual situations. And like that serial killer show with Kevin Bacon a few years back, I have no idea how this show, with this plot, could continue beyond one season.
