It was the same country (the UK) and she was the Queen! It’s like saying “given the proximity and history with the US it makes sense that Trump could and should want to help Puerto Rico”.

That’s the problem with these shows I fear they sacrifice history for the sake of telling a romantic period drama where the heroine can do not wrong.
