‘American Idol’ notes: Adam Lambert, James Durbin, Charlie Sheen
There’s not too much happening now in the “American Idol” world in the wake of the Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler exits, but we do still have a few new “notes” all about a variety of names — including someone rather surprising.
Adam speaks out – When it comes to Adam Lambert, we have heard all sorts of interesting interviews with him over the years — but even still, this new one with Canadian show Q is high on the list. It’s a fascinating talk to listen to not just from the vantage point of his career and his music, but what he wants all of the individual tracks on “Trespassing” to represent. Can we rank this near the top of our favorite interviews with Adam? Definitely.
The interview ultimately is rather long, but if you have a few minutes out of your day to watch it, you’ll be rather happy you did.
James Durbin helps out season 12 – If there is one thing especially cool about what the show is doing this year to help promote the season 12 auditions, it’s that they are having a former contestant stop by many of the auditions to give encouragement and join in the fun. Following some recent appearances by the likes of Haley Reinhart and Scotty McCreery, James Durbin has now done the same thing for the auditions in New Orleans.
Will he end up making it on to TV here? It’s hard to say, but at least Durbin played a valuable role in helping to keep Ryan Seacrest company as he oversaw the event.
Charlie Sheen still wants to be judge – Is this talk about Charlie Sheen potentially being a judge on this show moving forward completely ridiculous? Yes, but there is still something about his enthusiasm that makes us almost want to root for it against our own better judgment.
Sheen himself called into Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this week, and said that if the stars aligned in the right way, he may actually want to give this judging gig a shot:
“It kind of came out of nowhere and I responded with a quote just to sort of check the temperature of it or test the waters, haven’t heard anything back. I guess it got some people curious … It seems so out of the blue that it almost made perfect sense. I thought this could be a lot of fun. Seriously…I’m genuinely interested. It’s so different, it could be radical.”
We should ultimately note here that the chances of this actually happening are somewhere between “slim” and none.

Adam Lambert is a very articulate and brave man and he has so much to offer in addition to his gorgeous voice! I truly wish him a musical journey with less and less bumps in the road in order for him to fulfill his dreams. He is a true gift for anybody with an open heart and mind!

Completely in agreement for Adam Lambert, Mariah Carey and Cher!! That would be awesome!!! Would watch every day. Charlie Sheen, NO, NOT, he has lost his trustworthyness in my book!!!!!! Wouldn’t make an honest judge. Probably would hurt the Idol more than help.

Mariah Carey, Adam Lambert, and someone else that’s not 100 years old.

Charlie Sheen, or you kidding, I wouldn’t walk across the street to see this man live. He is the most overrated loudmouth jerk on the planet, and that’s just for starts. I cannot believe anyone would even consider Sheen.

I am quite fascinated with this young man.His view and reasoning will take him far
in his career. It would have been great if Freddie had the opportunity to live and see
some of these changes. He was great in his own time and like to think that he was
happy.I am old enough to know that happiness is what we desire in our journey.

Would love to see Adam as a judge. He would actually give some very good constructive comments and be nice at the same time! He has wonderful personality as well as one of the best singing voices on the planet. I would watch every episode if he were judge!!!!

Adam is so cool inside out. He has depth in everything he does and says. I am so excited about the possibility of Adam being on AI. I would watch faithfully. I really enjoyed listening to Adam in this interview. He is not just a pretty face who can sing. He is so multi dimensional and he manages to project this through his art.

I loved the interview with Adam Lambert (as always) but couldn’t figure out why he looked different. Then it hit me…his eyes look brown!! Contacts, maybe?

I don’t see how Charlie Sheen could ever be seriously considered as an American Idol judge (except for the weirdness factor). If Adam Lambert was ever made a judge I would most seriously watch it faithfully every week just to see and hear Adam. He is so articulate, has a sense of humor and has been in the contestant’s place before. I think he would be great for the show.

Adam is so articulate and has been through more than more of these IDOL contestants. He was older to start and had the struggle and still struggles. Please check out what they are saying overseas about his performances with Queen. He was fabulous. If this is a singing competition and they want great performers, he is the one who should be judging. However, I really want a tour for his album and more importantly hope for a Queen tour that is extended. He has awed thousands in England, Poland and Russia in 6 shows.

Would love to see Adam Lambert as a judge–he has professional musical training, was in a lot of musicals including Wicked, is Grammy nominated, just now performed magnificently with Queen in six shows, and is well spoken. Pink and or Cher would be fun along with him.

If I have to base my decision purely on what would be the most popcorn worthy judging panel in the history of reality TV then I’d say give the gig to Charlie Sheen, Aretha Franklin and Kanye West.
