For our second “American Idol” notes of the day, we are actually kicking this one of with Jennifer Lopez going completely over-the-top when it comes to choices for future judges on the show … and we’ll come back to earth for a performance of Stefano Langone’s new single.
Jennifer talks future judges – Either J.Lo thinks that most of America is oblivious to how the show didn’t want to pay her $17+ million for another season, or she just didn’t want to give the people of “Good Morning America” a realistic answer in a new interview.
When asked about who she would like to see join the show’s judging panel next year, here was the pop superstar’s response:
“I think like Bono or Bon Jovi or Mick Jagger … You know me, I think big.”
If you thought that Lopez asked for a ton of money to be a judge on this show, we can only imagine just how much money Bono would want. (We’re actually predicting somewhere between $30 million and the soul of Nigel Lythgoe.) Lopez also did say that Steven Tyler’s decision to step down from the panel also accelerated her decision, as she realized that the “magic” wouldn’t be the same without him around.
Does Kellie Pickler have a new label? – If you remember back to our recent story, you will remember that Kellie Pickler was not exactly pleased with how Sony helped her through the recording and marketing phases of her newest album “100 Proof.” So now that the two parties have split, it appears that she is looking to join an independent label sooner rather than later.
The Country Vibe is reporting that Pickler is already in talks with multiple indie labels when it comes to her next album, so hopefully we will have something in terms of resolution here soon. At the end of the day, though, we are operating under the assumption that Pickler is going to end up being just fine.
Stefano hits the stage – Ironically, season 10 star Stefano Langone (who likes to hide his last name these days) also graced “Good Morning America” Monday, and while there performed his newest song “Last Day” for the first time on national TV.
Before we say anything about this song, we’ll admit to loving “I’m On a Roll” with its catchy melody and driving beat — we’re actually surprised that it didn’t become more of a summer smash. However, we’re not feeling this song as much — while the story of the song seems to come from a real experience in Stefano’s near-fatal car accident prior to being on the show, the lyrics and the melody could be more polished.
