(Warning: If you have yet to watch Sunday night’s new episode of “True Blood” yet, this is probably the time to turn away. Otherwise, be prepared to cry sad, spoilery tears.)
Did you see that moment coming? It was hard to. Considering that Christopher Meloni was listed as a series regular or the fifth season of the HBO show, the assumption was going to be that we were going to be seeing a good bit of his character Roman on the show moving forward. However, that didn’t quite happen as his iStake device designed to kill Russell Edgington failed, and beore he knew it he found himself getting staked in the heart by the creature he had tried so hard to destroy.
So is Roman really dead? Based on what Meloni told TVLine on Monday, it sure seems like it:
“For the time being, he’s dead. I think that was my swan song.”
Meloni added that if he was going to die in some sort of dramatic fashion on the show, he is happy that it happened courtesy of Russell, and not some other character who was presumably less of a villain. With Roman dead, though, we are presuming that much of the vampire world is going to be thrown into chaos. Eric and Bill are going to blame Nora more than ever or what has happened to them, Russell is going to be “born again” and completely on the loose, and Sookie and Lafayette are going to be temporarily derailed courtesy of their own supernatural powers.
