Are we done with Melissa Hastings on “Pretty Little Liars” this season? Based on what we are hearing now courtesy of the actress responsible for playing her, it doesn’t sound like it.
Speaking in a new interview from Comic-Con with Wetpaint, Torrey DeVitto (whose husband in Paul Wesley was a key element of “The Vampire Diaries” panel) did her best to explain that she will be back at some point in season 3 for some more chaos in Rosewood, though we also wouldn’t expect to happen within the next several weeks:
“I did two episodes of PLL like about a month and a half ago. And then I haven’t done any since, but I still have a lot coming up before they wrap in December.”
DeVitto has quickly turned into one of the busiest TV actresses out there in the past few weeks. Although she is not a series regular on any show, she is currently balancing her work as Melissa with a part as Dr. Meredith Fell on “The Vampire Diaries,” which she is expected to return to for much of its fourth season. After all, Dr. Fell was in part responsible for turning Elena into a vampire, and we have a feeling that this will lead to a confrontation of sorts early on — even if Torrey’s character was really just trying to help Nina Dobrev’s by giving her some vampire blood to speed up the recovery process. There’s also the question of if she knew the blood was in her, as she instructed that Matt be saved first following the car accident rather than her.
As for what’s left for Melissa on “Pretty Little Liars,” she still has some more explaining to do when it comes to faking the final few months of her pregnancy, and even going as far as to fake the birth only to later say that she had a miscarriage.
