‘American Idol’ notes: Adam Lambert, Kellie Pickler, Jessica Sanchez
For our Saturday edition of “American Idol” notes, we have plenty to talk about — from Adam Lambert’s latest performance to where fans of Jessica Sanchez in the Philippines can pick up her EP containing some of her most memorable performances from the show.
Adam’s latest performance – Just how much fun is Adam having performing with Queen? Let’s just say that he is even showing off some of his own performances from the Hammersmith Apollo in London.
The video below via Suz526 — who is well-known among the fan community for compiling performances — was posted by the season 8 star on his Twitter account. Specifically, this is of one of the band’s most memorable performances in “The Show Must Go On.” We like.
Kellie Pickler talks struggles with label – Oftentimes when an artist is dropped from the record label, they typically choose to not really speak out very much about what went down. However, Kellie Pickler certainly does not qualify as most people.
Despite her album “100 Proof” being pretty well-reviewed at the time of its release, the album failed to launch any singles and did not sell well at all. What was the reason for that? Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Pickler in part blamed a massive regime change that was happening behind the scenes at her Sony label while she was going through the recording process:
“Well, it wasn’t promoted. When my album came out, I didn’t even have a song out on the radio. Nobody does that. [The label was] spread thin. When I was making my record, the CEO left. He retired. They brought in Gary [Overton]. My A&R left. They brought in somebody else. I went through four heads of promotion when my record was coming out. The only consistency was inconsistency.”
Pickler also claims that she fought tooth and nail with producers throughout the entire recording process, mostly because she felt as though they were trying to “manufacture” her into some sort of country artist that was different than who she really is.
Jessica Sanchez’s EP available overseas – Just how popular is the season 11 runner-up in the Philippines? Let’s just say that she is making sure everyone out there knows where they can pick up her collection of songs performed on the show this past season.
In a post on Twitter, Sanchez sent out the following message concerning the disc:
“Mabuhay Philippines! Please check out my AI EP available at@Astroplus1 & @Odysseylive nationwide! Mahal Ko Kayong Lahat!”
Here in America, some of the EP albums are being exclusively sold in Walmart stores.

I think Adam and Queen should put together a cd of their best performances.
I keep going back to Somebody to Love in Kiev. I know this was their first performance but there are some moments of “pure” Adam that are just unforgettable.
He hits the hight note “wail” when he sings “I said can anybody find me”….and at the end he does it again and I can see Brian May smiling. Just makes me smile. He didn’t hold back.
About the American Idol judging thing…that show is really going down hill and especially since Simon left. Tyler can’t be himself because if he was he would always be “bleeped” and everything else is just so sugar coated and as usual the winner was WGG: White guy with guitar. Can they resurrect it. I think Adam, Mariah and Miley (I think she has matured a great deal) might bring some life back to this show.
I switched to the Voice ’cause I thought X Factor and American Idol were very boring. The Voice has great judges with comical interaction.
