Comic-Con 2012: ‘Psych’ stars talk season 7, musical episode

While the majority of the TV shows at Comic-Con in San Diego this weekend are going to be presented a little bit later this week, we have our first bit of major fun from the convention now courtesy of a personal favorite — “Psych.” There are no plans for season 7 to be the last one for the series, but nonetheless you can expect this to be an important collection of episodes for everyone involved in the show.

To what extent are we talking about change here? Speaking to TVLine, stars James Roday and Dule Hill (along with executive producer Steve Franks) opened up about Gus getting a girlfriend for the first time of any real extended length, and said that everyone was pretty involved in the casting process after they have spent so many years getting invested in these characters. Meanwhile, Roday also said that we are going to be seeing more this season courtesy of his relationship with Juliet — there is talk of an engagement possibly happening, but there is far from anything in the way of confirmation on the subject.

Here are a few other things that you can expect to see during this coming season.

An homage to “Clue” – For the 100th episode, the show is going to bring back a number of familiar faces from the classic movie “Clue,” and there will be some sort of mystery that incorporates elements of this game along with the same traditional “Psych” fare that fans have come to know and love.

A musical episode – Unlike some other shows that choose to just sing covers, “Psych” is going for all original music during a two-hour special episode that is going to be airing on a different night and time over the next year. Think of it as a little separate movie to get excited about — with of course some songs thrown in for good measure.

As for one final bit of scoop, no one is giving a definitive answer in regards to Corbin Bernsen returning as Henry Spencer, even though we do have a feeling that he manage to survive the shooting during the season finale somehow.
