I get where you’re coming from, but it’s important to remember that having a panel full of superstars doesn’t guarantee huge ratings. Perfect example was when Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey were judges.

Idol totally shot themselves in the foot by giving up $25 million to Katy. Not only was that insane, but that was a slap in the face to Ryan Seacrest, who’s been with the show since the very beginning.

And they say they want to cut costs, but I’m curious as to how they’re planning on doing that when sources are saying that they’re debating adding a fourth judge.

Not with Richie for sure. I think you need to have two judges who are super-current.

It’s good that Idol is trying to right the ship as they went about this the wrong way. The first thing they should’ve done was re-sign the host, Ryan Seacrest, and give him his EP title. Second, sign an Idol alum. Third, sign a superstar judge. Fourth, sign an A&R/Record Executive.

My top picks would’ve been Adam Lambert, Demi Lovato, and an A&R/Record Executive. But, if they manage to finalize deals with Charlie Puth and Lionel Richie, then that’d be excellent considering that Katy Perry made a HUGE dent on Idol’s budget.
